An Upper Atmospheric Testing Lab is relatively inexpensive to build - less than $800.
Equipment and Material for
large PVC testing chamber:
Material and dimensions of main chamber are:

Chamber material:
6" schedule 40 PVC pipe.

One 6" tee.
-
One 6" threaded
coupling.

One 6" threaded male
adapter.

Two threaded end
caps.

Height of apparatus: 47".
-
I.D. 6".
-
Inside volume
of tee fitting and pipe: 2276 cubic inches.
-
Two openings are at
the top of pipe and on one end of T fitting.

Face mask for protection
- a must!

Weiss Low Pressure Gauge.

A 500 cubic inch Carbon Lucite Bell Jar is great for small tests.
Other Materials Needed:

Testing Device: 40 PVC
4" end cap with a Schedule 20 4" coupler inserted into the end cap. A 4.25"
bulkhead attached to the inside of the end cap with epoxy and 5" of Kevlar
tubing on the inside and 12" on the outside. The dimensions of the explosive
chamber is 4.5" x 3". The volume of the explosive chamber is 48 cubic inches.
